There are Few Signs of Spring at Killington

Except for the higher sun, longer days and great deals there are few signs of spring at Killington in Central Vermont.

There was a two foot dump two weeks ago and with the cold temperatures there has been little melting going on.

“It’s essentially still mid-winter conditions” said David Sartwell from Bradenton Florida. The snow is all powder and the trails are still well covered. The nightly grooming activities with over seventy trails being groomed midweek according to Michael Joseph, Killington’s Communications/PR Manager.

There are plenty of bumps for those looking for a challenge while the steeps like Cascade and Ovation have plenty of snow to carve on.

Spring is actually a great time to learn to ski and Killington. The “Max 5 Program” guarantees a maximum of five people per class. It includes a 2-hour lesson each day, equipment rental & a learning area lift ticket on days 1 & 2. Day 3 & longer, your lift ticket is upgraded to a full mountain lift ticket.

Another storm is creeping up the coast today and and a few more inches of the white stuff is expected.

There will be good skiing and riding into May at Killington and April promises to be a good month as well with below average temperatures forecasted.

Although baseball and golf has started –  keep in mind – THE SEASON IS NOT OVER!!!

Wednesday’s storm has brought plenty of new snow to northern New Hampshire just in time for some great deals being offered for St. Patrick’s Day. Attitash, Bretton Woods, Ragged Mountain, Waterville Valley and Wildcat are all offering $17 lift tickets on Monday, March 17. For Ragged you must purchase tickets on line in advance. Also available at Ragged are $17 tubing tickets on Sunday, March 16. These areas have received 8 inches or more of new snow as of Thursday morning and it’s still snowing! Wildcat tops the list with 18 inches of the fluffy white stuff with Bretton Woods not far behind with over a foot. With mid winter conditions in store, every skier is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day so get out and take advantage of the deals and the conditions.

FUN EVENTS RULE THE CALENDAR THIS SPRING AT WACHUSETT MOUNTAIN PRINCETON, Ma.

Monday, March 10 — Daylight Savings Ski Time – More daylight skiing & riding and lower night ticket prices as mountain closes at 8 p.m.  Sunday through Thursday nights.  Adult ticket prices go to only $39.

Friday, March 14 – Northeast Meltdown – Final Terrain Park event of the season.  New night event and an increased cash purse up to $2,000.  Great prizes.  $35 Pro; $25 Amateur

Monday, March 17 – Green Day Celebration – Start the day with WAAF Radio’s Greg Hill doing his special St. Patty’s Day morning show live from the mountain.  St. Patrick’s Day festivities including special online pricing; Irish food and beer specials; Kid’s ‘Dig for Gold’;  Sugar on Snow at Bullock Lodge and live music by Stone Clovers from 4-6 p.m.

This day is intended for skiers and riders as well as those who want to learn to ski or snowboard to enjoy the slopes and celebrate all the splendor of winter. “Celebrate” will feature discounted lift tickets, most for sale at $12 and learn to ski packages, starting at $33, for all to enjoy.
